Back to Reality!

It's Monday and we are back to the grind of somewhat normal life. We had a fabulous vacay with the Family! It's so nice for Jordan to spend time with his great-grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to be able to lay on the beach and eat my papaw's junk food he decides to force upon us all. Even though we didn't have racing on our minds we still got our rides in (in 90 degree weather) and that was interesting. Totally flat sandy gritty roads... I liked it but I am thinking Jordan didn't get much of a challenge. Good Time Trial practice I guess.

Next stop Crossroads Cycling Classic aka Speed Week.http://crossroadscyclingclassic.com/ This event is something Jordan's never attended but we hear about it every year how insane it is. It's a series of 5 races Wed-Sunday. All Crits except for one road race. Mom's skipping out on this one and Jordan is just attending Wed-Fri. He will be racing the Cat 4 Crits so it will be great experience for him! I will be one seriously nervous lady all week. Stay tuned for pics and results.

Guess who's back? For now anyway

We had an awesome weekend of cycling! Asheville fun for the French Broad Cycling Classic. Jordan got first place in the overall Omnium and it was such a great finish to a wonderful week for him! I can tell his cycling skills have developed even more in just a solid week of some truly great mentors. He didn't want to leave.
I think he even made a new best friend. He also learned what's its like to have a team work for him, which is a great feeling.
Now it's time for a little R&R with the fam. Oak Island here we come!

Get my boy back!!

So tomorrow I get to pick up J-man. I'm sure I am way more excited than he is! He's had an awesome 5 days at camp. I know this because I see the pics, not because he's called me and told me all about it or anything (sigh)
Anyway, tomorrow I pick him up and then we start racing.... Aah no rest for the weary. Weary being me the mom who's had no child for five days not weary the child who's rode his bicycle straight for five days. One day to include a nice climb up Mount Mitchell. I have snagged some awesome pics from Mars Hills Camp Facebook page! Yoga on the top of a mountain! How cool is that?! Anyway off to Asheville, NC for the French Broad Classic.

Junior Nationals

In June we traveled to a very HOT and very HUMID Augusta, GA for Jr Road National Championship races. 3 fun days of racing. It was a learning experience for us all! We started with a Road Race and Jordan placed 50th out of 89 riders. Not exactly what we had hoped for but it just wasn't his day. The Time Trial he placed 19th ( heck yeah) and the Crit he placed 32nd. This was not a hometown race with 10 riders in it and these kids were in it to win it! Again we learned a lot and will be ready for next year. For those of you who do not know what in the.world the difference between a Crit, TT or a road race is, you can go to usacycling.org under rule book and it's all there. We have studied that one over the past few months.
Texting while biking?? ha ha

New Blog for the Fam

I am an avid Facebook extraordinaire, I will be the first to admit it. I am a single mom, who just happens to be the mom of a Junior Cyclist. I thought this would be a great way for my family and friends who don't stalk Facebook to see all the pics and updates on his racing!
Jordan is my 13 year old very active son. He has been racing bicycles for a few years now, but I think the past year his passion for the sport has shown through his dedication and of course his racing. What started out as a hobby has quickly turned into a true love. I am so proud of how hard he works to improve his skills in the sport. So far in 2012 he has traveled to Wisconsin for Cyclo-Cross Nationals, Georgia several times also to include Jr. Road Nationals, he has the Tennessee Junior State Title and currently is in North Carolina at Mars Hill College for a USA Cycling certified camp.
Check back often if you want to see our journey!
